Released in 2002 this collection of Robert's songs performed by himself, a small band and a 12 piece gospel singing group (is 12 enough for a choir?) has finally come to Cross Rhythms' attention. The feel is unmistakeably positive as with all the best gospel with plenty of songs about how good God is and how good he has been to us, or in other words all the sorts of things that it does you good to hear regularly. So if the lyrics don't provide many surprises the arrangement and instrumentations do. It starts off quite traditionally with songs such as "Release Your Faith" with its gentle call and response for each line. Then it gets all groovy, showcasing some marvellous saxophone playing by Darrell Terrell throughout "The Truth" and for much of the rest of the album. The remaining collection divides between more typical MOR/gospel with odd breakout of grooves, all of which culminates with the slow burn build up of "God Is A Good God" which as well as getting a hot horn and bass riff going showcases some full on gospel proclamation from Robert and Eva Littlejohn. On the whole a pretty reasonable set.
