Reviewed by Tom Lennie Rivercamp is the worship offering recorded at the 2008 Elim conference in Evesham, Worcestershire. It's a follow up to the camp's first worship output 'Wave Upon Wave' from the 2007 event. Two keen young musicians lead the worship, Sam Blake, from Ealing Christian Centre, and Joel Pridmore, from City Church, St Albans. Joel, who also has a solo EP to his name, wrote around half of these songs. Others come from a variety of writers, such as Michael Gungor, Godfrey Birtill and Hillsong's Brooke Fraser ("Hosanna; I See The King of Glory"). These covers, however, are not the best I've heard. Interestingly, the two leaders have different styles, and while Joel tends to lead on his own compositions, a female singer leads on some of the others. Actually two highlights from the disc are when the audience give their all to the wonderful old chorus, "I Love You Lord" - and a couple of interesting spontaneous pieces. The more stripped down worship near the close of the album also holds appeal. An intriguing hour-plus expression of clearly deep-hearted worship.
