These days Richie Furay is a pastor in Colorado and the previous release in 2003 of 'In My Father's House' saw the one time Buffalo Springfield/Poco man begin combining the worship music of his church with his strong songwriting and vocal talent. 'I Am Sure' is a step up from its predecessor and once again see Furay teaming up with co-writer Scott Sellen to create a set of songs that draws on Richie's strength including the much beloved country rock sound. Highlights include the beautiful, uplifting "Overflow" and the electric, bluesy "Most High". There's no shortage of talent as Richie calls in former Poco sidekicks Rusty Young and Jim Messina. There's some lovely Hammond from Tom Stipe and Jim Waddell and one time member of The Byrds' Chris Hillman shows up to pluck a mandolin! With stellar performances and eloquent songwriting, this is an album that shows what can happen when Furay gets the chance to really meld together the music and the message!
