If you love electric blues music in a Stevie Ray Vaughan mode, then you just absolutely HAVE to get into this guy! Rhett Tyler might be completely retro musically and this album could as easily have been recorded in 1975 as in the '90s, but boy does it smoke. Laying down blues licks like there's no tomorrow, this studio set moves from the slow blues of the title cut through the acoustic blues of "Sweet Memories" and "Love In Vain" to the extended workout on the outstanding "Cold Wind Blowin'". With Early Warning proving adept at laying down a groove on tracks like "Train Song", "Right As Rain" and "Robin Hood", there is loads to enjoy here. Rhett's rasping vocals sit perfectly and the songs are a mixture of standard blues themes and spiritual concerns. Spiritually, songs like "Carry On The Light" and "Walking In The Spirit" strongly connect as does the epic closer "At The Cross", Stonking blues, welt worth investigating.
