Brash, raw and bombastic riffing opens up this second release from the Los Angeles-based hardcore act. Following their successful debut of 2015, this Californian four-piece continue to plough a rugged furrow full of gang vocals, thunderous breakdowns and traditional hardcore. Citing influences of Sleeping Giant and Comeback Kid, the pulsating guitars and throaty vocals can be heard, but Rapture have a much more stripped back sound. "Dead" chugs and rumbles as it builds towards the bigger, more mature sound of "Battleground" with its twin guitars and changes in pace. Throughout the recording, lyrics are spat with forceful conviction to reflect the faith of the members of the group. The penultimate cut, "Convictions" leaves the listener in no doubt as to the band's vision as the entire band repeat, "This is where we belong; we'll scream this message on and on." Although the recording is a little rough around the edges, articulate guitar work can be heard throughout. The most impressive track, "Relinquish" with the memorable line "One way, one truth, one life - our only hope" finishes another solid, if not standout hardcore release.
