This album represents a real milestone in the renewed career of a country superstar who dominated the country charts in the late 1980's and who even toured England on the strength of such big country hits as “On The Other Hand” and “Forever And Ever Amen”. Randy is slowly but surely getting his career back on track and this album, his second all-gospel outing, is certainly one to spend your money on. It is interesting to note the creative input Randy has had in contributing to some of the album's best tracks, in particular the title track “Rise And Shine” and the prophetic song “Jerusalem's Cry” which is terrifically powerful and so topical bearing in mind the huge current tensions in the Middle East. This album represents all new material to me and it is all very good. The most fun track is “Pray For The Fish” which I certainly defy you to be able to keep still to! One of the best country gospel albums I've ever heard.

Someone had mentioned to me about "Three Wooden Crosses",i.e. if I had heard it. The first time that I heard this song was in video format on a country music tv station. What a song!! Tears came to my eyes; lyrical content that we have all heard about, at one time or another in life. Kudos to the songwriters of the song Doug Johnson & Kim Williams.
Other notables are the cd opener "Raise Him Up" and the duet with ccm artist Chris Tomlin "Pray for the Fish":also have the videos for these songs. Besides the 2000 cd release "Inspirational Journey"; I believe this cd landed Randy on top of country and ccm charts simultaneously! Great cd to have! Randy, you and your band gave a memorable performance of "Three Wooden Crosses" many will not forget!!
GOD Bless! -Don
