If you're looking for something fresh, catchy and poppy, Black Country-based Rain have created an infectious pop sound built around some cool rhythms and hooky choruses. A sunny sound and totally singalong songs, this is 18 minutes of pop perfection. You may remember drummer Nic Burrows and guitarist Chris Smith from the excellent DFK who created their own brand of poptastic praise a few years back. Now with Rain they have managed to create a sound that sounds thoroughly contemporary whilst creating songs that have an undercurrent of spiritual themes. Overall this has a well produced polished pop sound but its singer Miranda Duggan who adds the killer touch to this outfit with her expressive voice. "Journey Junkies" opens proceedings with a chunky pop rock sound, swirling synths and power chords and one of those memorable choruses. "Lifelight" is a breezy funkier piece of pop with some tasty guitar thrown in and lyrics that celebrate a life-changing relationship with God. Built around a light but insistent drum loop, "Talk About The Weather" is an aching end of relationship communication breakdown song with a sweet'n'sour feel. The EP's closing track "Heart Of Your Love" is dancier than the previous songs with a funky undercurrent that celebrates God's love. If you're searching for the sound to remind you of the summer, this is it! I wanna hear more!
