Three of those instrumental albums, put together by prolific American musician and studio boss Eric Nordhoff. The whole intention of the albums is stated on the sleeve ("Your turn to unwind," it reads) and indeed, if you're looking for a sanctified version of those relaxation albums that have sprung up in New Age shops this box set may be for you (though it's questionable theology to fuse, as the title and subtitle suggest, two particular activities. . .praying and relaxing). But we'll let that pass. The set consists of 2006's 'Hymns' (piano, strings, acoustic guitar and light percussion arrangements of 10 hymnal favourites like "The Old Rugged Cross", "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Amazing Grace") and 'Christmas' (similar arrangements of Yuletide favourites like "Deck The Halls", "Silent Night" and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas"). Completing the package is 2007's 'Devotion' with a slightly different vibe to it and original compositions which, helpfully, come complete with Scripture readings for each composition. All in all a pleasant, if a decidedly soporific, listening experience.
