Pulse are a young band of 19 year olds currently on their year out before university beckons. Although not a Christian band and currently pursuing mainstream opportunities, they are fronted by Andrew Fitzgerald whose father David is a solo recording artist, session player and founder member of Iona. Andrew is the singer, keyboard player and lyricist with the band who have produced a very vibey guitar-based pop rock sound with enough edge to make it interesting and enough catchy hooks to make it humable. Recorded in week, this six track CD has some songs that work better than others. Favourites for me are the quirky powerful guitar attack of "Back To Alive" and the atmospheric "Hang". It's all intelligent music and one has to hope that the band survive the parting of the ways as university towns take them away from their home base together.
