Sitting somewhere between The Presidents of the USA and '70s power poppers Cheap Trick, this energetic wonderfully titled album rocks out from start to finish. Guitar/vocalist Kyle Maligro does a passable impression of the Trick's Robin Zander especially on "Mayor", but as a fan of that band, I've got no problem with that! Easy listening this isn't but if you're into all things rock and roll, this is a must. Lyrically I found it much harder to get into -1 haven't got a clue what half of this is about. Perhaps it's the American slang, perhaps it's just my age! That hasn't stopped me getting down though. Like The Presidents, some of this is clearly just simple good fun. "b.o." examines the perils of band members not wearing deodorant. The wonderful "Rubber Ducky" appears to be about a man in the bath who wants to borrow your duck though I am sure this is merely an allegorical reference to some aspect of sanctification that temporarily escapes me! Great song though. The rocking "Mask" looks at how God looks on our hearts not at the outside. In "Freak" Milagro sings, "I am a freak/I'm a weirdo but I love God above" and ultimately perhaps that's all that matters, overall this is a wonderfully slightly off kilter modern pop rock album.
