Out of the glare of the publicity bright lights, Ben Lilford, otherwise known as Psionics, is turning out some of the edgiest drum 'n' bass ever to emerge from Christendom. Aided by a soulful diva, one Tracy Harrison, and London rappers Overflow, who excel on the Christ lifting "Radio Friendly", this is quirky, energising, cathartic stuff, full of unexpected rhythmic twists and a most assured integration of beats and heavily doctored vocal effects. Some militant swipes at the notorious World Bank as well. One of the most adventurous independent recordings of the year.
