All the songs here have been written and performed by Pheyland Barthen with assistance from his wife(?) Natalie who sings backing vocals and has co-produced the tracks with him. The songs are mainly inspirational, folksy and are delivered with an understated manner. These guys really care about their music and clearly enjoy performing it. The only downside is the vocals which are a bit rough at times. I was thrilled to hear Pheyland playing dulcimers which give some of the tracks a bit of a Rich Mullins vibe. In fact, I'm sure Rich would have approved of the overall quality of the songs and the poem-like lyrical structure which borrows heavily from Scripture. It is a shame that this uplifting and inspirational album is only 38 minutes long.
