I was pleasantly surprised by this album. The thought of an entirely instrumental album of hymns and original works played on the piano did not sound that interesting at first. But I was very impressed by the skill of Peter J Williams both as a pianist and as a composer. The album sleeve told me that Mr Williams is a much sought after composer and conductor who has arranged and directed the soundtrack to a major MGM film, has had a Christmas number one on WCRB, the largest classical radio station in the US, and has hosted his own weekly radio show in Boston. But all this just confirmed the talent of this man. I found his original compositions beautiful and relaxing as well as enjoying the hymns. Perhaps some of the voice-overs were unnecessary, particularly the Bible reading from the AV. But this is a minor criticism of a very good album.
