A new baby changes a lot of things, but for the Manchester-based worship leader Pete, Baby Eva's arrival in July 2011 has been a musical inspiration. A foetal scan of her features on the album sleeve, and a slideshow video for the title track comprising photos of her can be found on YouTube with the lyrics. Reminiscent of Psalm 139, "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb," the lyrics explain that Baby Eva is "incredibly and intricately" made. The lyrics in 'Made by Design' continue "all the gifts and the abilities that you have so graciously given to me" is all the more notable as it appears Pete wrote, recorded, produced and performed everything on the album. This range of talents comes out on 'I'll be there for you' which has an African guitar intro with what sounds like a African balafon (xylophone), some complex percussion programming, and even touches of a Soweto choir. Clearly Pete's talents as a music teacher are well used. The absence of professional production may limit any potential commercial success, but this is an album his students should be proud of. Baby Eva may also appreciate it one day!
