By day Pesha is actually a 60-year-old lady barrister called Pat Bailey, but at night she turns into a pop artist recording in her kitchen. Let's face it, it sounds bizarre, doesn't it? And it is! This single contains four versions of the same song, "Contact Day" - including an instrumental version. Although they all have different titles, they actually sound very similar! So similar that even after a few listens, I wasn't sure where the differences lay. Never mind! Lyrically, the words hit close to home because they are Pesha's thoughts on the sensitive area of child contact when parents separate or divorce. Perhaps her day job inspired her to write the song. In the blurb that came with it, she says that she hopes this song will focus people's thoughts on the trauma that children go through when their parents split up. An admirable sentiment for a song and motivation for ministry; unfortunately, the outdated '80s-style drum patterns and some horrible synths sounds make it a non-starter. Not to mention that Pesha's monotone voice puts me to sleep and is so far back in the mix you can't hear the words. Perhaps recording a song isn't the best way of making a difference on this issue.
