Stoke-on-Trent-based worship leader Hughes has been writing songs for 20 years. This debut mini-album is a record of eight of his best ones. I for one am glad he bothered. Paul's compositions range from hymnody to folky pop and the arrangements his "friends" have contributed are well played. One could suggest that Paul's voice is adequate but lacks a little in tone and character. The strength of his hymns leaves you longing for full-on choral arrangements. Maybe one day. . .
