The fact that Paul Heyman has an incredible gifting was established in the 1995 release 'Israel's Passion' and 'Covenant' can only reinforce this. For his ability to carve beautiful melodies with the violin he can surely have few equals, but for all this 'Covenant' perhaps represents a gradual further progression, though no better, all the tracks are instrumental (despite the lyrics appearing on the inlay card!). Heyman's premier talent soaks the whole album, providing many highlights. However, I do have a niggle. On the odd occasion, the musicians who support him are mixed in such a way as to distract rather than embrace the overall experience, sounding just a little too contrived. Heyman's rendition of "Shout To The Lord" is thoroughly enchanting, representing a perfect marriage of violin and piano. Another fine album from the Messianic maestro.
