I like Paul Baloche, he writes good and substantial songs and is rightly recognised as a major contributor to the worship scene. If you haven’t heard of him before you will almost certainly have sung at least one of his songs (“Open The Eyes Of My Heart”, for example). I am not a big fan of the praise and worship genre as a whole but this is a good album. There are no standout classics for me, but the whole collection is well written, well produced – and live. Check out songs such as “Without You”, “Arms Open Wide”, “Arise” and “All For You”. The album stands comparison with the best of British such as Matt Redman, Stuart Townend so shouldn’t disappoint if that is what you are into. There is a whole range of supporting material such as instructional video, songbook and worship leader assistant (CD-ROM) which make it a great resource package for worship leaders. Also worth a look is the website www.leadworship.com where a wealth of other material can be found.
