Paul Aldrich has been in the comedy business for 20 years and his polished performance on the Bananas show is, as usual, slick family fun. There were a few references to things American, certain TV shows for instance that I just didn't get but overall Paul's set was reasonably funny. Interestingly this Californian comedian is also a talented guitar player and singer and uses his gift in his stand up act. He has a talent for taking well known songs and changing the lyrics and gets a lot of laughs on his reflections of growing up and dating whilst playing well known theme tunes on his guitar and he sings a clever ditty about therapy to the tune of "Yesterday". His act included jokes on being single, dating and of course religion and he gave a humorous reflection of Abraham and Isaac being the perfect example of a dysfunctional family. I didn't find his comments on people with dyslexia funny nor did I laugh as wholeheartedly as the audience. But still, Mr Aldrich is worth investigating.
