PDI is a USA-based family of churches who are fast developing a musical resource ministry to the wider Church (check out their excellent website). What has impressed me most about this latest offering is the quality of the songs, which is hardly surprising with contributions from such heavyweights as Mark Altrogge, Bob Kauflin and Isaac Watts. Unusually, there are six vocalists on show and I found Phil Kim's delivery on the title track most to my taste. I also loved the impassioned ad-libs of Chris McCree on "Behold The Lamb" and "Join All The Glorious Names". Although the musicianship is never less than solid, I felt the drums and bass were a tad unimaginitive in places and I wished in vain for a soaring guitar solo. Compensations were occasional tasteful strings, sparse piano and some neat production tricks. Steve Cook is to be congratulated, however, for producing a worship album vastly different in feel from either its US or UK counterparts. Definitely worth trying if you are looking for something a wee bit different.
