West Sussex singer/songwriter Olwen Ringrose may not be a household name in Christian music yet, but here is an album that should be regarded as excellent, with or without big label subsidies. If you're looking for a record to put on to lighten up your day in a peaceful and graceful manner, then this is perfect. Everything about it is well executed. The songwriting, recording, playing, mixing, singing; it all smacks of anointing to me! There is a humility that seems to flow from the music that makes you respect Olwen even more. She has a lovely, slightly whispery voice that glides through the album leaving the listener in a calmed state. The acoustic guitar work of Dan Wheeler is impressive and augments Olwen's compositions perfectly, particularly on "Lullabies". The album features bursts of Celtic music which is quite delightful, like on "Too Familiar". The flow of the album is natural and well thought through, it's never dull. The piano-based ballad of "Beautiful One" is a standout, as is the evocative instrumentation of "Emmanuel". You'll love this album if Note For A Child or Iona ever affected you. All in all, I'd highly recommend this release to you.
