As CR listeners will know, this Alabama-based band are currently on the Cross Rhythms playlist with their infectious "Catch Me" which opens with an electronic dance loop and then moves into the catchy college pop rock that Ohio Avenue deliver for the majority of the album. A radio friendly gem. The following track "Liar, Liar" is also memorable with a punchy chorus and catchy singalong quality. Reminiscent of House Of Heroes at times, Ohio Avenue never really venture into an all out rock sound. Quieter tracks such as "Shine Through" punctuate the album and contain some of the more poignant lyrics, showcasing Derek William's clean vocals with some nice harmonies. This is a solid first offering from a group that is bound to appeal to fans of The Fray and OneRepublic. Well crafted tunes stand up for themselves containing lyrics that are full of hope, Ohio Avenue show a promise which could well see them break nationally. On the strength of this set they deserve to.
