Five-track EP from Southport musical grouping Odd At Ease which is part instrumental and part vocal. It's the poppy title track that has words and is sadly the weakest link mainly because of the below par vocal performance from Mike Mawdsley. Things are better on "Won't Back Down" which features a guest appearance from the Albion Band's Phil Beer adding some brilliant fiddle work as well as some excellent mediaeval recorder sounds from Anna Scarisbrick. Mandolin player Ian Cleverdon's instrumental piece "Jackson's Return" from his solo album is also included with a lilting folky melody which is reminiscent of 70s Mike Oldfield. "Main Theme" has a rather charming Jewish melody (or is that Greek?) but my favourite has to be the closing "Love Theme" with its synth atmospheres and melodic classical guitar which, for some reason, brought to mind Dire Straits' "Private Investigation". Weird eh? Overall some nice work here.
