Another superlative recording from this highly rated duo from Cambridge. Their debut CD single and first album 'Impossibly Beautiful' both received 10/10 in Cross Rhythms, and this follow up EP deserves no less. New Wine's Greg Farmer actually gave the album 11/10 in true Spinal Tap style! BBC2's Bob Harris called it "perfect".' Late And Alone' is a five-track unplugged album featuring new recordings of "Impossibly Beautiful" and "Always" from the first album plus three new tracks from the second album, 'Eternal Curve', due to be released this autumn. Previous CDs have woven strong world music rhythms with dance beats and hooky grooves. 'Late And Alone' strips these songs down to the bare minimum. Daniel Goodman provides just enough understated accompaniment to showcase Susie Beattie's beautifully haunting vocals. At first listen you are struck by the simplicity of the arrangements and the power of the lyrics. As you listen more you discover the depth and skill with which each track has been crafted. Even the CD and liner ooze quality - and remember this is a wholly independently produced recording. Check out the band's website to find out more and to listen to previous recordings.
