This is Doncaster-based singer/songwriter's first album of her own material (she's also produced a short set of Christmas songs entitled 'Little Child') and there are nine tracks here which give voice to her love for and faith in God - and it's a fine voice, too, although at times lacking a little confidence. She has written (or co-written with her husband James) all the songs on this album, but the musical arrangements are a little unimaginative and the production is a bit woolly on several of the tracks. There's a pleasant instrumental ("Rest, My Soul") and a couple of tracks where things really do open out ("Open The Heavens" being the stand-out track), but this album doesn't really have anything to set it apart from hundreds of others. On the back of this, Nicola has launched her own production company (Mustard Seed Media UK) and produced a music book and set of backing tracks, but I don't really see it taking off far from her current base. Maybe it's just a question of experience and confidence - only time will tell. The desire to serve Christ is clearly there.
