Doyens of British Christian music will remember Welsh songbird Nia's Ears And Eyes albums followed by an announcement that she was going Stateside to seek the big CCM hit. It didn't quite happen but now the produce of that US sojourn is at last available here. 'Under Cover', her fourth album, was recorded in Nashville and was released there in 1991. Featuring some strong, emotional singing, it is let down by a professional but anodyne production. The simple spiritual lyrics are thoughtful and challenging, but the gospel songs just fail to reach out and grab the listener and the 'issue' songs fail to capture a sense of real suffering. For hardcore Nia supporters only.
