Ross Meecham is based in Paraparaumu in New Zealand and is part of a NFI church there. With a heart to create Christian music with the capability of crossing over to touch listeners beyond the church walls, this seven-track EP is an ideal introduction to his music. Although there's no doubting that Ross is a cool singer and a brilliant guitarist - these recordings are littered with tasty guitar licks, there's still something missing in the overall sound of the songs here which prevents them from gelling together. Could be that it simply suffers from the low budget production so it's all good but unexceptional. For me the standout is the acoustic driven gentle song of revelation "Eyes Wide Open" and the insistent "Heaven" which builds from a mesmeric introduction into a big chorus. Ultimately, this is OK but I'm waiting for the pieces to fall together more convincingly.
