They used to be called No Second Chance but have now gone for the abbreviation. I'll have to be very, very careful what I say in my review of this for apparently a chance phrase in my review of the band's very first demo where the guitar sounded like a "wasp in a jam jar" led to this album's title and artwork! Well, all I can say guys is that, under the watchful ear of producer Paul May, your guitar sound now has all the edge and muscle needed to make air guitarists like me reach for the tennis racket. But it's not just that raw guitar edge that give this album its appeal. Producer May has pushed the band to write hooky new material which alongside much loved favourites from of old like "Anointed" and "You Stepped In" make an album brimming with infectiousness. Miriam is a distinctive lead singer, full of bluesy bitter-sweetness and the harmonies are just right. All in all, a highly impressive CD debut which we can but hope gets into the shops. In the meantime, send your cheques to Meltdown.
