It was an intriguing detour for the compilers of the best-selling Wow series to hand a bunch of master tapes of hit CCM artists to various remixers but if you like the idea of the Christian scene's finest given a club music makeover this is for you. Many of the cuts work surprisingly well. The Tritonal Remix of Chris Tomlin's "Waterfall" for instance or the NightShift Remix of Casting Crowns' "Thrive" definitely add new energy to the worshippers' songs. Just as impressive are the Capital Kings' makeover of Mandisa's "Overcomer" and David Thulin's reworking of "Write Your Story" by Francesca Battistelli. Occasionally the remixers add little or nothing to the original songs and simply seem to strip away some of the instrumentation but on the whole the electronic trickery of wise hands like David Thulin and the aforementioned Capital Kings bring freshness to rock acts like Skillet and Switchfoot, pop icons like Plumb and Jamie Grace and worship leaders like Matt Maher and Rend Collective. This Deluxe Edition is particularly well worth checking out as it offers a generous 36 cuts.
