Nick Kinsella is Mumble. The five songs on this cassette EP aren't helped by being badly recorded - bags of hiss, clicks, everything distorted, way over the top effects and a dreadful mix which, given this sounds like it has been committed on a four-track (voice, guitar, some drum machine), is almost an achievement. Emerging out of the mush are three fairly mediocre songs, one, "Invisible Friends" which shows some promise, and one which is unaccredited on the insert and we'll draw a discrete veil there. Nicks' voice has some potential and his guitar playing is competent, but both are spoilt by the said OTT effects. If he worked on his writing and left the technical stuff entirely to someone else so he can concentrate on the music, then maybe things could improve. But putting this home-produced cassette out for sale seems to be a bad mistake.
