Southampton-based quartet Mr E have a knack for creating modern rock music which is packed with melody without compromising the energy levels. This eight-track EP is the perfect introduction to the band who have only been together 18 months and are already growing in leaps and bounds. From the catchy lalalala chorus of the excellent "Summer Song* through to the gentler "Beautiful You", the band manage to capture plenty of atmosphere. One | highlight for me is the powerful "I Believe " which has one of those hooks that will have punters punching the air as they sing along. "Whisper When I Shout" is probably the vibiest thing on the CD and I love it! Harun Kotch has the makings of a fine songwriter and Mr E adds the musical clothes to transform his naked lyrical sketches into gorgeous masterpieces.
