This EP from a Dallas-based singer is upbeat and reminiscent of the rare groove era of the 1980s. Monae Miller's vocals are extraordinary and unique which makes for exciting listening, the song "Broken" being a standout. While Monae's reading of the old Fanny Crosby hymn "Blessed Assurance" is impressive with a jazzy vibe. "I Love You" is a slow ballad on which Monae professes her love for the Lord. The release of a full length album will certainly be received well on the strength of this short but well produced EP.
