I loved the Mighty Flyers. They regularly played lunchtime gigs at our school (Stand Grammar School for Girls in Whitefield)
and saw them a few times at Bridgefield St Methodist Church in Radcliffe where they had quite a few gigs (also saw Adrian Snell there) They were always great and friendly and of course all the girls loved them

thankyou for the comments made by the two previous gentlemen. This was my dads band, and it was a joy to read your comments.

My dad was in this band too! I loved this music and all the wonderful people that it reminds me of, including your uncle Adrian x

I agree with Robert Clark; "What Kind Of King" is a superb album - for Christmas time especially. It has excellent insights into the lives of people who were around at the birth of Jesus, with some ideas put into a modern setting and several catchy tunes. "Eyes like jewels" - billed as a song of discovery & joy for the wise men who finally came home sums up so much of the emotions that surround a personal faith in Jesus.
I first heard this album when I was at college in Sunderland in the 70's and I still have contacts there so its nice to hear there's another fan in that lovely town.

Hi Guys,
I'm a native of Sunderland (I think, Robert, i sold you my Bass guitar a few years back) and still have fond memories of the Mighty Flyers. I came across a website recently where you can download all three of the MF's albums
http://heavenly-grooves.blogspot.com/search/label/Artist%3A% 20The%20Mighty%20Flyers
check it out
Love like an ocean is one of my favourite songs and was played at my wedding in 1986.
Best wishes to all

I saw your dad's band many times and saw him preach at West Street Baptist Church in Rochdale a few times. Happy memories.
