From the very first notes of the catchy opening title track written by Bill & Gloria Gaither, I began to enjoy this CD. The Mississippi-based group comprise Matthew Thompson (lead vocals), Greg Colburn (baritone) and Tyler Hudson (tenor) and mighty fine they sound. Musically they have a very pleasant mix comprising tuneful songs, well sung and exuding much emotion, which creates a strong sense of feeling and belief, which perhaps should be expected from three young men who are also involved in missionary work overseas. The backing includes acoustic and electric guitar, piano, fiddle, steel guitar and some orchestration, giving the whole album more than a country feel at times. Most of the 12 songs are new to me, with the theme of singing being strong, "He Keeps Me Singing", "Songs We Used To Sing" and "I'm Gonna Sing Amazing Grace" being a trio of themed songs all written by producer Mark Carman. The only dud track is "There Stands A Hero" which for me confuses the Gospel with too much American patriotism. However that is a minor blip on an album which I otherwise enjoyed from start to finish.
