Country music buffs will know that Mel was one of the giants of the genre who down the years has released more than 60 albums but never, until now, a gospel album. Whether he has a real Christian faith too I know not. What I can report is that in the Mel Tillis Theater in Branson, Missouri where the silver haired veteran still performs, music is evidently locked in yesteryear. For this is old style country crooning with heavenly choirs, predictable arrangements and over 20 songs of the "Precious Memories", "How Great Thou Art", "I Believe" variety. For ageing aficionados only.
