Minneapolis-based trance DJ and producer Matthew has been through struggles in his life in recent years battling depression and has channeled that experience and his emergence out the other side on this, his fourth album. Something of a name in the EDM community, Matthew has been gaining support from some of the big names in trance and house from the likes of Paul Van Dyk and Markus Schulz and 'Exit Chrysalis' demonstrates why their support is justified. There is an impressive variety of tracks here with changes in tempo from the hyped up "Dance Upon Injustice" which is sure to get the dancefloor jumping to the more laid back vibes of "Returning To What I Knew". Whilst mainly an instrumental album there are a couple of vocal tracks with "Sky Is The Limit" standing out featuring the soulful voice of Jackie Faroui. There are some euphoric hands in the air moments on "Chicago Myst" contrasted by gentle "Lost Beauty" where the keys come to the fore allowing you to pause and reflect before building up again. There is a real need for Christians to be taking a lead in producing worshipful music to fill the dancefloors of clubs across the world and this certainly has the potential to make an impact.
