The opening two lines of the first song 'The Simplest Affection,' I wake up with the light on by the bedside/The memory of her still remains so fresh' made me think I was in for a set of 'bedsitter blues' love songs but track two, 'Come On In' is an engaging rock shuffle about finding cleansing in Christ. Matt is an excellent lyricist, a throatily passionate singer with a touch of Sting in his vocal stylings and offers a collection here that are a neat mix of relationship songs and proclamations of faith. Neat playing from Matt's muso mates and a summery feel make this a thoroughly engaging introduction to a way-ubove-average singer/songwriter.
