Radioactive Records have released an expanded version of Mass' self titled EP from 1985. The additional track is "Bones", a song written by former bass player Rob Stephen, who gave the band permission to record the song without him. It is vastly superior to the majority of the other tracks, showing a more mature songwriting style. The only comparable track from the original songs is "Holy One", the only other obviously Christian song. The remaining three tracks are very much in the style of the time, almost "party metal" if you like. In fact, "Pedal To The Metal" would probably work better if it was served up as a Spinal Tap-esque pastiche rather than the fast car, hard living anthem it is delivered as. The tracks are well produced, and there is plenty of talent on display. They are not terrible songs, but they certainly have not aged particularly well.
