Mary, will be well known to all Daniel O'Donnell fans having toured and recorded with the Irish country crooner on numerous occasions. In her own right Mary has recorded a stream of country albums which have gone down well in Ireland and Australia. But it's this release, originally released in the Irish Republic in 2009 which shows Mary in a new light. Putting aside the slight Nashville twang of previous recordings here Mary's pure, sweet soprano sings a set of religious songs and hymns accompanied by the Prague FILMharmonic Orchestra and the effect is surprisingly close to the inspirational offerings of classically trained singers. The fact that Mary's pure tones can sound so convincing on such much-recorded works as "Panis Angelicus" and "Ave Maria" is very impressive while her readings of "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" are again deftly executed. Mary's first religious album will find an appreciative audience.
