The whole premise of this album is "to bring the listener into a place of peace and stillness in prayer", and all six tracks are consequently slow and meditative. Mark's attractive light tenor voice is sensitively supported by a small band and some backing vocals. To my mind, the best track is the opener "One Thing I Ask", where the delicate acoustic guitar provides a great balance with the clear words based on Psalm 27, verse four and the piece moves along nicely with drums and bass. "Calling" is a reflection on why God would bother to work with us and builds up to a nice instrumental section, with creative instrumental arrangements. "Heart Of Hearts" has the same accessible style, but rather wanders off the point with the tinkly piano, which features again in "Glorious Love" and "My Covering". The tunes and the words are decent but I found these tracks getting too static. The last track features vocalist April Ballard and is a nice contrast with her pretty voice backed by cello, though she does swallow her words a bit.
