This is an EP released at the end of last year by a singer with Nigerian roots who has spent time with the London Community Gospel Choir and has been gigging on London's club scene since 2011. This is expertly produced modern R&B with a strong electro tinge though the opener "Be There For Me" is a little too teen pop for comfort. Much better is the dramatic mid-tempo "Without You" which shows Mariam has a thrilling sense of dynamics as she intones "I can't do it without you." There's also a short but impressive voice-and-acoustic, "Grow", that demonstrates that with the right song she could explode onto the mainstream scene.
