Reviewed by Phil Thomson Time to get intimate. This feels like a concert for one. Imagine an empty studio, just Marcy and you and a baby grand. There's an echo in the keyboards, a comfort in the shadows; a smooth vaguely tremulant voice begins to soar up through the overhead mics and wraps itself around your memories of what's gone and the day that's to come and it's time to drift, soak, lose yourself. Marcy White has paired things right down to the songs and nothing else, so nothing gets in the way. It is the most exacting, ruthless platform on which to share who you are and this lady simply does not flinch. It's like listening to the pages of a diary, confessional, personal; songs where faith, hope and love appear and disappear throughout the ordinariness of being Marcy White: "Come To Me", "My Life Belongs To You", "Can't Separate Me", allude to the sensitivity she brings to her writing. By the end, she's wearing her heart on her sleeve and you've lived through every word. Likely to be Florida's best kept secret, this lady from Bradenton is gradually being noticed stateside, with "Come To Me" chosen as December Song Of The Month by the Christian Songwriters Network - and right now it feels that she is more surprised than those who are taking an interest. I've never said this before but. . . definitely one to watch.
