US producer Paul Buono, under the moniker Magellan, has deftly chosen to blend his accessible yet inventive brand of dance music with the vocals of Nashville CCM artist Lara Landon to offer up an alternative worship experience that demands repeat play. Proving that dance music is a multi-faceted art form, Buono wisely chops and changes between styles with the likes of the opener "Crown Him" firmly rooted in pop dance territory whilst sub-genres trance and techno influence tracks such as "Glow" and "Love's Creed" respectively. Landon herself mirrors Buono's ingenuity by offering up different aspects of her considerable vocal skills according to the requirements of each song. For instance, a tender performance is offered to match the contemplative nature of "The Fall" whilst a radical reworking of "Abide In Me" sounds for all the world what the old hymn would sound like if the artist formerly known as Cheryl Cole were to tackle it. Despite a theologically-confused declaration that love is God and not the other way round in the aforementioned "Love's Creed", this is nonetheless a refreshing, imaginative and God-glorifying alternative to the run of the mill worship fare currently in the market.
