Another of the many quality grassroots releases that Admiral Cummings has shoved my way lately is this one from the Strangers & Aliens project in Southampton. Lynn Swart is a well respected name in the UK Christian music scene, and she and her friends have put together a very interesting album, using as their inspiration Revelation chapters 4 and 5, where John is taken through the door of Heaven and shown the things which are to come. The accent is firmly on worship, with one or two oldies but goodies recycled -"The Lord's Prayer" is here, also Henry Williams Baker's version of Psalm 23 "The King Of Love My Shepherd Is" to the old Irish tune "St Columba" - but most of the composition credits are down to Lynn, and she has crafted an excellent set in various styles from pop praise to ambient worship, The band is nearly all proper instruments, synths and programmed stuff is kept to a minimum, and the whole thing is nearly 70 minutes of satisfying listening. Well worth your attention.
