When it comes to gospel music, it seems as though the British scene often tries to copy the sounds and styles of the Americans and often falls short in the attempt. This CD features five versions of "Just Hold On" by London-based singer Lynieve Austin. Mixing gospel, pop and inspirational sounds, the catchy ballad is a song of encouragement for those who are bereaved, broken or going through troubled times. With swirling strings, multiple vocals and Lynieve's fine soulful vocal, the song clocks in at over six minutes on each mix and it is a bit of an epic! It is actually a great song though I am not sure whether the five mixes are distinctively different enough to merit inclusion here. I'd love to have heard a cutting R&B mix but hey! The song does encourage the heart and I'm left wanting to hear more from Lynieve.
