Returning after their successful debut, Los Angeles-based Living In Victory (formerly LIV) have undergone a name change and added a couple of new guitarists to their line up. Still rooted in classic hardcore, this latest offering has developed a much more immersive sound. Vicious spat lyrics still feature over pummelling rhythms, but guitars take centre stage where once LIV relied on a heavy driving bass to take the lead. The title cut is an unsophisticated slice of old school punk, unrelenting in terms of its speed and energy. "United Stomp" continues to build on this with the addition of some impressive traded vocals and an edgy gang outro of shouts and calls. It is not until the final track that a prominent bass guitar returns as it walks and drives its way through "Kingdom Come" under some discordant guitars. These four short tracks make a suitable step up musically from 'Be The Change' whilst continuing to deliver an urgent edgy message that comments on youth and social issues. Production is more layered and crisp, bringing a little variety to the table. This is a move towards a slightly more commercial sound that could appeal to a wider range of fans. It certainly bodes well for their next full length release.
