Take a trip with me to the soft-rock ‘90s and earlier to the time of the Beatles, and you might find Worcestershire-based LisaLife, where smooth vocals and harmonies lay on simple bass and rhythm. The song “John One” features Beatlesque vocal harmonies that dominate the track with only a few musical interludes where a little guitar sneaks in for a moment. The next track “New World Harmony” starts off with a promising electric guitar softly hammering away that sadly doesn’t ever deliver the goods. The standout track is “Far From Here”, which brings the piano and acoustic guitar out of the background and into the foreground where it belongs, along with the soothing vocals of Lisa Winnitt. The title track “Turns Blue” is also a good tune, with sassy organ-keyboard and poppy chorus. The band is committed to seeker friendly evangelism. I suspect that in a live environment the band’s music would have more power.
