On two volumes of 'Hymn Works' American classical pianist Linda came up with a smash hit idea, taking well known hymns and seguing them into bits of well known classical music. Now for what will undoubtedly be a series the lady has started into popular praise choruses - taking for instance "Majesty" and linking it to Greig's "Concerto In 'A' Minor". Elsewhere "Great Is The Lord" is joined to Paderewski's "Minuet", "How Majestic Is Your Name" is married to "Alleluja" by Mozart and Chopin's "Etude" is played alongside "Glorify Thy Name". Orchestral support is provided by Don Marsh who conducts the Nashville String Machine. If all this sounds a bit tacky it is. I prefer my classics and my praise choruses unadorned but the Christian subculture want 'classy' choruses and here they are.
