This is the second tape released by Lesley Webster and it contains a mixture of traditional hymns ("We Rest On Thee", "Great Is They Faithfulness" among others) and newer songs, four of which have been written by local songwriters. Lesley has a beautiful, expressive voice, very much in the mould of Marilyn Baker or Marilla Ness and tracks such as "Don't Call It Love" are a joy to listen to. However, her voice does sound a little strained on the traditional hymns and I feel these don't really enhance her voice. Also. I do have reservations about the production, which is very mixed. Some tracks, especially when she is backed by an organ, sound very 'home made". But I would not want to condemn the whole tape, because Lesley does have a gift of conveying God's love through her singing. Proceeds from the sale of this tape will go to Sounds Of The Underground, a charity concerned with Christian outreach co-ordinated by Lesley's husband John.
