This group from Paris made quite an impact at Greenbelt this year so, faced with this CD, I got Anne, my A level languages student, to translate some of the songs here, and even then I wasn't entirely sure what was going on. Fortunately the band's website has an English version. This told me that the band is "an acoustic pop-rock band with jazz tendencies and Celtic influences." Which, substituting "folky" for Celtic, is a pretty good summary of this CD really. Les Passagers is French for The Passengers, which as the band point out, we are all passengers on the earth, just here until we die. All in all, this album is a pleasant romp with some excellent fiddle playing. If you're a French speaker you might want to investigate.
